Cuties with Cloth Booties...

So...after much consideration I am thinking about joining the world of Cuties with Cloth Booties.

We had looked into it before when I was pregnant with Riley. At the time I had just learned about G Diapers. I really liked the idea of the G Diapers, but when we looked at the price of the inserts versus the price of disposable diapers it was more expensive to buy the inserts. I recently did the math again when I saw that Babies R Us now carries G Diapers. For a 40 pack of the small inserts it comes out to .36 per insert. For a box of 84 Newborn diapers....or for a pack of 60 newborn diapers it comes out to .30 per diaper. This is before you add in the $27 for 2 G diaper covers.

I am totally clueless when it comes to cloth, so I have a LOT of research laying ahead of me. This is where you all come in! I know a lot of you are cloth diapering momma's. Can you help me to join the world of Cuties with Cloth Booties? Do you have any websites that will tell me the difference between prefolds and pocket diapers? (are they different? or is that the same kind just with a different name? LOL) I want something that's easy to read and to understand that won't confuse me more then I already am. I know there is the bum genius brand, but I don't know anything about them. What about my daughter's weight? Will that effect whether or not we can even use cloth diapers yet? She's not quite 8lbs yet. I have so many questions, and I know that if I go to my good friend Google that I'm going to have a lot of links to wade my way through. Some helpful, some a complete waste of my time. So I am coming to you all to see if anyone has any great websites I can visit before I turn to Google.

I promise to update once I figure out what we decide to do!!

  3. Oh, my. I could write three pages in this comment. lol. Since you specifically asked about bumGenius and your daughter's weight, I'll answer those.
BumGenius makes both an AIO and pocket style diaper. If you read the links I sent you already, you know the difference in those. These are really popular diapers! I've got one and I like it a lot. Joe is actually wearing it right now! :) They're very absorbent and they fit well. And their weight range is 7-35lbs, so they'd probably fit your little one!
But there are tons of diapers out there, and that's just one brand. It's great to have a variety in your stash. We have 10 different brands in 4 different styles. It's safe to say I'm obsessed! haha.

  5. Hi Nora! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your encouraging words. It's definitely a challenge adapting to life with 2 babies, so it's nice to know that it will get easier, eventually! I also wanted to let you know that I recently switched to cloth diapers, myself. When we were expecting our new arrival, we realized just how much it would cost to keep 2 babies in disposables. It was astronomical! So after a ton of research, we switched to cloth. I LOVE it. I am still learning, and my journey into CD's is something I plan to focus on with my blog. But we have never regretted the decision to switch, and we've been using cloth for almost 6 months now. One blog I LOVE that has tons of great info is BiehlAdventures. Crystal is a sweetheart, and is basically a cloth diapering guru! She also hosts a lot of cloth-related giveaways. I have really learned a lot from her! Anyway, I am your newest follower. I look forward to reading more of your posts!

  6. OH! I forgot to add that you should join diaperswappers.com. They have a TON of info, and all the mamas there are very helpful. They even sell gently used cloth and a lot of the ladies will even do trades.
