This Saturday, May 12th, 2012 is the Untied States Post Offices annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive! This is their 20th year of doing this food drive. It is nation wide, and so easy for anyone in America to participate! All you have to do is take non-perishable foods, put them in a bag, and stick the bag out by your mailbox for your mail man (or woman!) to pick up! It's THAT easy! Your local post offices will deliver the food to a local shelter.
Did you know, that according to the Feeding American annual report 2011, that 5.7 million people are fed by The Feeding America Network a WEEK?!
I'm asking all my friends to make a donation this Saturday to help Stamp Out Hunger. Go in your pantry's and cupboards, find ONE can and put it in a bag by your mailbox this Saturday. If 10 of you do this, that's 10 cans of food, 20 of you is 20 cans of food, it all adds up! Personally I will be donating a bag or 2 of food, thanks to my coupon usage.
This is what they consider to be non-pershiable foods from their website at www.helpstampouthunger.com .
Donate items like canned meats, fish, soup, bottled juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal and rice that do not require refrigeration. Please do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers.
Will you help to stamp out hunger?
